So it needs to be something that has gotten lots of attention in the media right?
Well I guess being the typical military man that I am , I was thinking about the right to bear arms, concealed or open, on university campuses. I think it is narrow enough to keep it focused but broad enough to be well covered.
Sounds like a good idea but have you picked your stance yet? Are you for or against it? Also be prepared to use alot of laws - In my experience their hard to find and understand.
ReplyDeleteProbably something you'll need to pay attention to at the atart is how much yours will over-lap with the gun-control issue in general. It might get complicated trying to hold your argument with the broader issue overshadowing it the whole time.
Great idea. With the focus being on campuses that should help narrow it down for you.
ReplyDeleteI am very much for it. Up at USU a lot of people carry it's nice to know that if anything happens there are people around who would react and try to save lives
ReplyDeleteYou could narrow it down to many different topics.
ReplyDeleteIs it constitutional? Does it affect campus violence? Is it related to the political persuasion of the students on campus?
Good luck, my friend.
Right to bear arms versus Columbine and Littleton. Incredibly difficult to argue FOR bearing arms on campus for anyone except campus police. Maybe your interest in the military could provide other possibilities for you.
ReplyDeleteFind out what BYU's policy is about the right to carry arms on campus. Look into the shooting at the college in DeKalb, Illinois.
